New Project? Everything is happening exactly the same, all this is going to be is a HD update weekly, not even worth waiting for, just watch the original if you have never seen it before it is a great anime, but you cant call a “Reimaging” a New Project and then have everything happen exactly the same way in the exact same time line for each arc.
They are combining the 2 first two seasons into one. So its gonna be like an abridged version.
The kid below this comment has clearly already finished the 2020 version of this series and what this kid says is final, clearly. Do you even enjoy anime mate? Yee thought not

No, it has 24 episodes and continuing into Winter 2021.

An original Higurashi fan here, with the VN then the decade ago anime.
This is NOT a remake or abridged version; this is a completely NEW season that, with Sotsu, will bridge Higurashi with Umineko.
If you have the time and will, watching the original series before this one is really worth it.
(I personally dislike a lot of artistic and scriptal choices in the new seasons, but it’s still an amazing story).
